How to build a skincare routine for dark spots and uneven skin tone

Dark spots and uneven-looking tone can have different causes. A cosmetic routine may support a brighter appearance, but it cannot diagnose a skin condition. If a mark is new, changing or concerning, seek professional assessment.

Start with the essentials

Cleanse gently, moisturise when needed and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning. The American Academy of Dermatology explains that sunlight can worsen some forms of pigmentation, so sun protection is central to a plan for dark spots.

Choose one brightening step

C Glow is a lightweight 10% ascorbic acid serum. C Glow +20 contains 20% L-ascorbic acid and ferulic acid. Illuminate is a lotion containing alpha arbutin, azelaic acid, kojic acid and tranexamic acid. Choose according to your skin's tolerance and introduce one active at a time. A higher concentration does not guarantee a better personal result.

Make the morning routine repeatable

Cleanser → chosen treatment → moisturiser if needed → Defence 50 facial SPF. Apply and reapply sunscreen according to the label; use shade and protective clothing too. In the evening, cleanse, use the treatment directed for that time of day and moisturise.

Shop pigmentation and dark spot skincare, or follow the step-by-step routine.
